Digital Low Insulation Fault Locator

Introduction

Conventional cable fault locator cannot detect low insulation fault. This specialized fault locator has been designed for this purpose. This digital fault locator is extremely convenient to find the exact distance of fault from machine when a low insulation fault exists on that line. Depending upon the type  of   cable  V/2 value is selected by cal potmeter. Then good pair & bad pairs are connected  to the machine. At far end good pair is shorted to one limb of  faulty pair. When  we  press DG X 1switch we directly get  distance of good pair. Then in null mode  null potmeter is adjusted to get 0 reading on the meter. Lastly after pressing  the  DFX1 switch we get distance to fault in metres. Similarly we can find distance to  fault in the case of   earth fault . Accuracy of the reading is +/- 0.5 % .We can  also measure foreign potential  of faulty pair. Unit works on battery. It is light weight & hence very handy.
